Following on from the sucessful release of his new cookbook, Not GuiltyChef Mick Élysée is bringing his unique take on Congolese cusine to Hoxton, on Saturday 3rd March, 6.30pm, at the Open Kitchen Bar and Restaurantwith a special 4 course gourmet dining event for one night only. Combining the methods and style of modern French cooking with the ingredients and flavours of his native Congo, guests will have the opportunity to experience Mick Élysée’s signature Afro-fusion cuisine. “I want people to know more about African cuisine, and the only way to make it well known is to keep moving. That’s why I’m doing pop-ups – I’m taking the food to the people.” On arrival, dinners will be welcomed with Mick’s signature appetizer, then will be taken on a culinary journey through Congo with an exciting 4 course meal. The event is organised in partnership with the Wonder Foundation and a portion of the profits will go to the charity and their causes. PAPA L’s KITCHEN first pop-up of the year returns on Wednesday 21st February, 18:30 – 22:30, at the prestigious HYDE Kensington. After three successful tasting events in a space of just 6 weeks and renowned for his 10 Course Tasting Menu, head chef and creator Lawrence Gomez, will once again showcase his modern cooking methods and innovative culinary skills with a “Vegan Tasting Menu” that promises to ‘take your taste buds on a new journey and leave you wanting more!’ The menu has been carefully designed to cater for Vegans and non Vegans, showcasing the best of fresh fruit and vegetables through its “African fusion food” concept and includes: Beetroot salad with mint mimosa dressing; Creamed cauliflower soup with truffle oil; PAPA L’s coconut curry with baby sweetcorn, sugar snaps and steamed rice; Spiced plantain with confit shallots and Grilled brocolli with smoked tomato vinaigrette – to name a few dishes. If the way to your heart is through a humble sausage roll, a Mexican chipotle chicken wrap, or cheese and onion pasty; then you’re in for a treat as much loved high street bakery Greggs, in collaboration with OpenTable, are opening their doors on Valentine’s Day for couples to enjoy a romantic, four- course candlelit dinner in selected shops across the UK. Romance is definitely on the menu as selected branches will be transformed into restaurants for the night, complete with mood lighting, music, roses, candles and linen tablecloths and instead of ordering at the till, diners will receive first class table service, in their take on ‘fine dining.’ The one-night-only menu will be made entirely from Greggs favourites including: seasoned pork puff pastry sliders, katsu tortilla wraps, your choice of signature Greggs puff pastry parcels and brochette miniature doughnuts – just to name a few items from the menu: all washed down with prosecco. Little Baobab returns to East London on Friday 12th Januaryfor their first pop-up of the year. Enjoy a night of Senegalese food, live African music and great vibes.These popular monthly events are well-known for their authentic Senegalese soul food, with some of London’s finest African musicians providing entertainment on the night. With the return of winter, comes the return of the igloos…but not just one! Since Coppa Club launched the famous igloos last year, they’ve since been copied by dozens of restaurants across the world, with a plethora popping up around London!

The Social Fun & Games Club have headed to an East London rooftop for winter, brining glass igloo dining to the 8th floor of Roof East, with views of the Olympic park as your backdrop. Foods from across a variety of African countries, are finally getting the accolade and exposure they deserve in the UK and of late, the capital has seen a sudden rise in the popularity of African Supperclubs and pop-ups…enabling Londoners to try delicious and diverse flavours from across the continent. On Saturday 5th August, from 6.30pm – 9.30pm, guests will be able to sample the delights of authentic Sierra Leonean cuisine, at My African Hob’s inaugural Supperclub in Hammersmith, West London. We’ve been told guests can expect “a warm welcome, an evening of African celebration, deliciously home-cooked food and full flavour from Sierra Leone.” Upon arrival welcome drinks made from traditional West African ingredients like a warming Ginger Beer and lime drink; or a Wonjo (Hibiscus flower/sorrel) cocktail, will be served and a three course menu will include a choice of: Starters – Banana akara (Ve) or Sierra Leone style banana fritters served with homemade pepper sauce; Mains – Skewered roast beef kebab with spicy Couscous (beef cubes marinated in peanut sauce, grilled with onions and sweet peppers) or Black eyed beans stew with roasted sweet potatoes (Ve) and Pear Tart (V) with vanilla ice cream, for dessert. It’s time for baked beans to take centre stage, as a Heinz Beanz café will be popping up in Selfridges Food Hall from March 27 to April 23, to celebrate 50 years since the slogan ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’ has bean around! Habouring memories of student days gone by, the Beanz Meanz Heinz Cafe will serve – beans with crispy bacon, beans with ham hock and beans with scrambled egg, all of which come with the option of adding extra cheese. Egg-citing news, the Cadbury Creme Egg Café is back…and it’s touring the UK! The travelling Cadbury Creme Egg Hunting Lodge, will be situated near the London Eye for three days only – Friday 27th January, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th February and guests can expect a range of Creme Egg inspired treats such as ‘Gooey Creme Egg S’mores (creme egg pieces and a giant marshmallow sandwiched between two biscuits and then toasted), Creme Egg Hunters’ Hot Chocolate, Creme Egg Forest Fridge Cake and Creme Egg Black Forest Toasties all priced at £4; along with floor to ceiling Creme Egg hunting paraphernalia.’ If you’re in a rush but can’t resist a Creme Egg catch, then head over to the takeaway area for a Gooey Creme Egg S’more priced at £2.
